Voiceovers And App Narration – The Not Silent Blog 12/03/19

App narration is one of the many voiceover genres I’ve had the pleasure of participating in. I’m in the middle of narrating my second app right now. The first one I did is called Mind Warrior, a therapeutic app. You can check it out here.

As to my second foray into app narration, since I’m in the middle of doing it I don’t feel comfortable talking about it until it releases. I will say that it’s designed for workplace training, which I think is a great application for an app. See what I did there? 😉

TIP OF THE WEEK

When it comes to preparation and technique, app narration (at least the two I’ve been involved in) seem to fall under the eLearning umbrella.

I don’t think SAG-AFTRA has a contract specifically for app narration, but I’d guess it would fall under the Corporate/Educational (Co-Ed) Category 1 contract. If it’s a gaming app, the Video Game contract may cover it.

The Global Voice Acting Academy Rate Guide has a section on app narration (pasted below for your convenience):

FYI there are 2.8 million different apps in the Google Play Store and 2.47 million apps in the Apple Store. Not all of them require voice talent, but this could be a genre you may want to investigate to find more voiceover work.
