Voiceovers and Action Plans – The GKN Update 1/18/16

Over the last two weeks we’ve talked about how to set goals and come up with actionable items to achieve said goals. To catch up you lollygaggers, you can read the Goals one here and the Actionable Items one here.

Once I set up my Goals for 2016 and came up with a list of Actionable Items to achieve those goals, then I created a monthly Action Plan. My Action Plan is broken down into the five “Dan Duckworth” categories:

  1. Cash Flow

  2. Tools

  3. Technique

  4. Marketing

  5. Health

There are two kinds of Actionable Items: monthly and weekly. The monthly Actionable Items are (obviously) the tasks I do just once each month. The weekly Actionable Items are, you guessed it, tasks that I need to perform each week.

For example, at the top of the Action Plan is written “To improve my Cash Flow this month, I will…” and listed under that are all of the Actionable Items related to achieving my Cash Flow goals.

An example of a monthly Cash Flow Actionable Item is “Send an invoice to the clients I bill once a month”.

An example of a weekly Cash Flow Actionable Item is “email client X to confirm completion of last week’s projects” as in, confirming finished minutes & slides and see if there are any retakes.

In addition to the five categories, I have a section at the bottom called “Special Stuff” where I leave some blank spaces for tasks I come across during the month that don’t fit in the five categories. Stuff like exploring an interesting website I discovered or doing an Agent 1.22-related task.

TIP OF THE WEEK

Write an Action Plan! Easiest. Tip. Eh-vah.

The Monthly Action Plan, that one piece of paper, is the most important part of my business. Without it, I would be lost! Whenever I’m not sure what to do next, I just look at the Action Plan. It spells out everything, and I mean everything, you need to do to run your business. It give you focus, purpose, and keeps you on track. You will be amazed at how much progress you can make with your voiceover business!

NEWS AND NOTES!

The trailer for Agent 1.22 is here! Check it out…

HAPPY HAPPYS!
