In 2023, I auditioned almost 2,000 times for various voiceover gigs.
While most of them were your typical, run-of-the-mill Explainer videos and online commercials, there were a few standouts. Dan-O's Preem-O Seasoning was one of them.
The Casting Notice
At first it looked like just another casting notice. Then I looked at the script. It was easily one of the funniest pieces of copy I'd read all year. The other thing that caught my eye was the list of celebrity references. One of them was Ryan Reynolds. I've been told by many people both inside and outside of the voiceover industry that I sound like our Deadpool-playing hero so that made me even more intrigued.
The Audition
I did one take and sent it off. Within a few days, they booked me! No recording session required, either. They just used my audition for the spot. That's a testament to my home recording studio.
The Spot
I'll let it speak for itself. FYI I'm the "creepy whisperer"...
