kiva

In 2011, I attended the wedding of my agent Erik Sheppard of The Sheppard Agency. As a good wedding attendee, I checked out their online registry to pick out an appropriate gift. Of course there were the usual gift options (corn cob holders, toilet paper rack, etc.), but there was also the option to join their Kiva team.

Kiva is a non-profit organization that helps to give micro-loans to people all over the world. I immediately jumped on this! When I got paid back for my first loan, I just took that money and loaned it to someone else. In the six years since I have made 13 loans to people in 9 countries to help them start or maintain their small businesses, everything from agriculture to fish selling to pig farming.

In that spirit, I have built a Kiva team for you! It's called "Voiceover Clients Care". To join the team, just click on this link. I already got the ball rolling by making a loan to a woman in Kenya to help her buy farming supplies. You and anyone in your office can make a micro-loan in increments of $25 to anyone you want. Just make sure you make the loan as part of the Voiceover Clients Care team. If you have any questions, let me know.

What I love about this is that it's not charity; it's giving people a chance to stand up on their own two feet and ply a trade.

Thank you for making a difference in someone's life!
