GKN Weekly Update 6/26/12 – Voiceover Haiku!

Good morning on this seriously lovely morning! It is NICE outside. I took my morning walk and it was most pleasant. BTW I have lost SIX POUNDS this month, three of them at VOICE. Weird, huh? So from now on, I am going on a rum diet. I’ll let you know how that’s working out at the next AA meeting…

FYI I will post the GKN Weekly Update on Tuesdays instead of Mondays from now on. It’s all about traffic, yo! And karma, of course.

So, many of you have expressed how much you enjoy the “Quote of the Week” section of the GKN and I thank you for that. This week’s quote happens to be a haiku that I and a friend of mine wrote:

QUOTE OF THE WEEK: A Dear John Haiku by Carly Johnstone and Tom Dheere

This isn’t working

I hope we can still be friends

Please don’t kill my cat

Inspiring, ain’t it? Anyway, I thought it would be fun to play a “Voiceover Haiku” game. I’ll go first, then you guys post your own VO haikus on my blog. BTW please post it as a comment on my blog so they don’t get lost in the Facebook river. I’ll post mine in the “Tip of the Week” section…

TIP OF THE WEEK: a “Voiceover Advice” Haiku, by Tom Dheere

When you speak in mics

It is not all about you

Don’t be an ass clown

STUFF!: It’s shameless plug time! My next Edge Studio Business and Money 201 class will be tomorrow (Wednesday, June 27) at 8PM. The subject: Paperwork, Billing, and Follow Up. I hope you can make it!

From Tom Dheere’s apartment, this is Tom Dheere, GKN News…

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAAAAAA!!!!!!! (he said ‘ass’ heeheehee)

    Slamin’ haiku bro.

The C sounds like an S
    In Voiceover
    Shaken, not stirred
    Spoken, not slurred

  3. Ralph, you have all the right syllables, but haiku cannot be broken down in that fashion. The line count has to match, as well, always 5-7-5.

    Clicks of background noise
    Pop filters are a godsend
    But I use a shirt

(I really must invest in the real deal.)
