A friend of mine noted - and it's worth repeating - how amazing it is to live in a country where the health industry doesn't care about food, and the food industry doesn't care abou health.

On another note, if you haven't yet, see "My week With Marilyn." Remarkable.

Tommy,

I recently had a similar problem with my e mail files which contained some very important .mp3 files as attachments and lots of priceless contact information. I also had my UPS (universal power supply) die and sizzle after yet another power anomaly in my house/neighborhood (not due to lightning).

My TOSHIBA 1 TB backup hard drive is a GREAT investment! Bottom line, you have to love Trish THE Dish, she's a gem in a world full of coal!

Well written, "Tommy," and I love happy endings. My computer crashed last year, and the computer "expert" I hired managed to lose my most recent two years' worth of data. Not such a happy ending. I've got Tony Soprano's guys looking for that dweeb....

Not really. But the idea crossed my mind! We go forward anyway....

I freely admit that my system is pretty regimented (read: super-anal!). It has loosened up a bit over the years, but that's because I discovered that it needs to be fluid to account for life's little (or big) surprises.

A Happy New Year to you, old friend!

Tom, while I admire you and appreciate your amazing sense of organization, I find that for me personally, making resolutions/setting too many specific goals/etc. sets me up for failure. Thus, I think in terms of aims and objectives. These include: Do the next right thing; God permits U-turns; If I'm wrong, promptly admit it, rectify it if possible, and don't dwell upon it; help others and don't keep score - the wheel of karma helps those who keep it rolling in the right direction. By this standad, I think 2011 was a fairly decent success. It's all terribly philosophical, I confess, but as John Lennon (among others) said, "Life is what happens while you're making other plans."

I'm not pushing my trip, or rejecting yours or others; it's just what has worked for me. There are many ways to "do what works."

Now, technique goals - yes, a little "freshening up" never hurt anyone!

Thanks for the thoughtful pieces each week, my friend, and Happy New Year!

Thoughtful as usual plus two great lines: "bit them on their windmill" (got to remember that) and the Joseph Campbell quotation. Well done, my friend!
