GKN Weekly Update 10/10/11
Happy Columbus Day! Enjoying those white sales? This bizarre albeit beautiful weather?
Man, so much to talk about today! I’m gonna do some plugs first, if you don’t mind…
This weekend I and some friends went to the Warwick Valley Winery in upstate New York. It…was…AWESOME! I don’t know what I loved more; the scenery, the perfect weather, the apple-picking, the wine-tasting class, the food, or the company. It was perfect! Just perfect. Oh, and if you go, grab me a bottle of their Pear Hard Cider!
My friend Rick Gordon of E-Learning Voices helped me land my first gig after being a part of his talent pool for only a couple of weeks! He’s looking for a few more North American talents so if you’re interested, please go to his website and tell him I sent you. Break a leg!
I had a great networking meeting this morning with Bill Frechtman of the Morris Small Business & Entrepreneur’s Meetup Group. It’s the best Meetup Group I’ve encountered thus far and his get-togethers are always lively and informative. Their next meetup is Wednesday, October 19 at the Famished Frog in Morristown at 6PM. I will be there and I hope you will, too!
Fellow GKN’er Trish Basanyi found a printing company that will reproduce 1000 high-quality postcards for only $100! That’s a pretty darn good deal. It’s a group-rate offer so I’m doing it. If you want to do get in on the action just email Trish at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Okay, enough pluggin.’ On with the blog! Um…nevermind.
TIP OF THE WEEK: The War of Art by Steven Pressfield. This is the only book I’ve ever read that has made me nauseous. Why? Within a few pages I noticed myself saying out loud, “Yup. I do that all the time. And that. And that. That’s what’s been holding me back for years. That’s what I’m afraid of.” It hit home like nothing I’ve ever encountered. If you have any kind of creative block, can’t quit smoking, can’t lose weight, or can’t get out of that unhealthy relationship, stop what you’re doing and go buy that book. Now.
QUOTE OF THE WEEK: Everyone is crazy. You just gotta find the crazy that matches your crazy. James Rogers
STUFF!: More awesome music! This week’s artist is Bloc Party. The song is “Pioneers“. Enjoy!
